And I think some work a rotating day/night shift, but we've never discussed it.

I put our full word list info below:

We are not word researchers and try to match the Websters and Collins Scrabble Dictionaries. Both links are below if you want to check words you have seen in Word Chums.

We added the definitions as a bonus feature to provide many definitions for the curious. However there are very few sources we can access easily and legally from the app. Currently our definition source is Wordnik.com but its not connected to the validation list.

For word validation we try to closely match the Merriam-Webster’s Scrabble and Collin’s Scrabble dictionaries (links below).

This is the link for Scrabble’s official list (They have access to an official Merriam-Websters Scrabble dictionary for definitions):
    http://www.hasbro.com/scrabble-2/en_US/search.cfm

The link above does not always let you search all forms of words and they also need to be checked here:
    http://www.collinsdictionary.com/word-games/scrabble-checker/

We started with a standard word list…

Why is Support deleting valid comments about words and reference links on this thread? I made comments in January and earlier in Feb.

JuneBug, when a player finishes their rack first then just like in Scrabble, all your remaining tiles are added to their score. It's explained in the rules in Help. It's fairly standard for this kind of word game. The first player to run out of tiles stops play for everyone, and is counted "turn winner". The person with the highest score after the total players' tiles are redistributed to that player is the overall winner.

    jojiieme commented  ·

Oh, please don't. That's just silly: we can already do this via chat agreements. We don't need extra enforcements.

If you've done so at least once, go through your Inventory and swap that way instead of through Shop. Don't pay again for what you already own.

?? I've never seen that! Just annoying randomness that frustratingly gives me awful tiles. Like when we're playing real Scrabble the oldfashioned way, with a real board and a tile-bag and everything.
And then suddenly I get a great run of brilliant letters and spaces to put them, and beat everyone!

I'm sorry for the typo in my previous comment.

    jojiieme commented  ·

My scores improved after I matched with a players many many levels above me. I don't play the way she does, I don't use the words she does but I learnt strategy and tips from her: from observing her moves and her use of Chum accessories (yes, that counts too!), and occasionally asking questions.
Instead of complaining, newer player could do the same. The Help section has many similar tips.

    jojiieme commented  ·

Score can often depend on tile selection, whether you have sufficient coins to purchase bombs or hints or energy (I.e. Allowable score boosts), and if this particular game is played in such a way as to allow for the amazing words you can form to actually be placed.
So no, the proposed new scheme won't work: it will actually penalise a player like myself who sometimes scores over 500 and sometimes scores mid-300s.
Maybe try searching the Internet for the many sites that teach strategy for this word game, and learn some vocab.

Names of places, people, days of the week, etc. and generally any word that is always capitalized are not valid words in most word games. Abbreviations and contractions are also not valid.

Aids and gigs are valid words. This usually occurs when multiple words are being formed. You can send a screenshot to support@peoplefun.com if you wonder why a play is not valid.

We try to closely match the Merriam-Webster’s Scrabble dictionary (link to it is below).

The short answer is if you see a valid word played that is not found in the Websters Official Scrabble dictionary we will remove the word and we will give you 3,000 coins for finding it. You just need to verify it is not in the Scrabble list before sending it in.

This is the link for Scrabble’s official list (They have access to an official Merriam-Websters Scrabble dictionary for definitions):
    http://www.hasbro.com/scrabble/en_US/search.cfm

    We…

It's frustrating that aids always defaults to AIDS but I think that's the Apple spellchecker. Just like Apple is always capitalised. Eh.

Loads of players don't belong to Facebook, and won't know about this: this is the first I've heard about Tournaments.
    Should be other options.

You don't have to be a word 'genius' to rise through the levels quickly.
The Help section contains strategy tips, and there are websites that teach some more, on how to use word hooks more effectively to boost your scores, even for simple words with one to three letters ( like A or THE or EAR or SUN etc depending on the layout).
Learning strategy is what takes time, for many people, as they have jobs and families etc. Opponents often live in opposite hemispheres.
If you want to get even better scores you can learn to use the HINT facility well because it helps to see the spaces where a good word should be. (I don't use it because my brain doesn't work best that way, and I still get good scores, and win enough)

I put the info on auto removal of games below. We have had an issue with the auto delete process the last couple of days and you can have some older games but they will be removed soon.

We have the nudge on the list for future updates. Sometimes a nicely worded chat can remind someone. “Would you like to finish our game?”

The system will delete random games after 7 days and other games after 11.

When it’s not your turn and you would like to remove a game from your game list you can select “Remove Game” from the game menu. When your are viewing a game board the game menu is in the top right corner. You will no longer see the removed game on your list after selecting remove game. However if the player does make a turn before the auto resign time period is reached…

    jojiieme commented  ·

If you turn on notifications, the game can remind you it's your turn, then after a week or a bit more, it will cancel the game.

Oops: missed a word! That should read: people who want more playing time...
We don't need AFK, we need COMMUNICATION!

    jojiieme commented  ·

Vincent, you sound like someone I'd enjoy playing! :)
People with larger vocabs can mentor people who are newer to games like this; people who don't like using the in-built boosts don't have to; people who to have more playing in their day can start more games with new friends/players or Chums. There's a lot of flexibility if you allow it, and set some shared understandings via Chat for your first games.

Won't work. What about device latency? What about server problems? What about issues such as snowzilla or tropical cyclones that remove the ability to charge devices let alone transmit???? These are unfair issues for players to be penalised with.

Oh, I meant to say that it's really silly that MUNG as in mung beans isn't recognised, and common international words pending from before 2009.

    jojiieme commented  ·

Interesting also that CRAY, accepted by WESPA and the CSW from at least 2010 onwards as a legit alternative word for crayfish, esp in Australia and NZ, is not in the linked database. This is despite it being written about in the international Scrabble players blogs on new words & players' secrets.
The same holds true for VOM, accepted in the last couple of years and widely written about in the media, QIN (a Chinese zither, accepted in 2013 as a new word because it hooks onto qi), EE which sometimes the game accepts and sometimes it won't, and many others.
In fact many of this year's 6,500 new Scrabble words won't show up if you search the linked Scrabble dictionary. It's buggy. There's a huge problem that needs resolving.
But it's still a fun game, and there are loads of legit words you can use to great advantage.

Ridiculous. You can negotiate a fast game via Chat, or allow for gaps in play while people work, study, live their lives. If you're bored, start another game.
